So I have this really great easy (and cheap) recipe post planned, took all the photos already and everything–but I honestly have not even had the time to just sit down and write it out. Instead, I’m typing this one-handed from my phone as I run around the house trying to catch up on mommy duties. Life can be crazy when you’re a mom of 3 littles with another on the way! :)
Either way, I wanted to get something out to you all today. Hopefully I can get that recipe post put together tonight, and it will be ready for reading tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, here’s my thought of the day…
Today: Being Productive in 15 Minutes
My husband’s aunt (who is just plain awesome in general, but has been like a 2nd mom to both of us for quite some time) taught me this tip when I was pregnant with our first (Einstein), and it has stuck with me–and seriously helped me!–ever since. I was in the 1st trimester and constantly sick, bloated, or just plain exhausted (and this with no other kids yet! Haha), and I was having major trouble getting motivated to get anything done. Dishes were piled up, laundry wasn’t getting done, and I didn’t know what to do about it… Not to mention, hubby was pretty frustrated (who’s to blame him?). But while chatting with his aunt on the phone about it, she gave me this one piece of simple advice that changed my outlook completely.
“Set a timer, and do as much as you possibly can for 15 minutes. Then take a short break, nap, do whatever you need to, then do it all over again.”
Within a few days, our household was running smoothly again. It’s truly amazing what you can do in 15 minutes! Plus, that manageable chunk of time gave me just the drop of hope I needed to get productive again.
“Hey, I can do 15 minutes.”
If you think about it, you can do pretty much anything for 15 minutes. So let me encourage you, if you’re finding your house in chaos and can’t see over the mini-mountains of dishes and laundry (or unfiled papers, toys, whatever), take 15 minutes and just see what you can get done. Then come back to it later for 15 minutes. Soon, you’ll be ahead, and you’ll be surprised with how easy it was! :)
What are your tips for being productive?

THIS is such a POWERFUL tip! I’ve used it for years now, and it still helps me get motivated — and get ahead — when I feel like I’m at the bottom of the barrel looking up. Thanks for posting!
great tip! (from an awesome lady!) ;)
Hi, I saw you on the Pinterest party at mamagab.
This is a great tip and one that I still use to this day. I’ve taught my children the same tip. It really helps with school work.
Thanks! :)
