One of the things I was most nervous about before we set off on our grand adventure was getting sick while abroad. I mean yeah, obviously other countries have health systems too, but unfamiliar = complicated–for most of us, anyway.
I recently had some dental work done in Turkey that I had been putting off for a loooong time, and it was actually a way better experience than I thought it might be. A friend here introduced me to the sweet, English-speaking, female practitioner, and it was a very pleasant process (for dentistry, anyway. Haha). And extremely cheap.
But sometimes, you just want something familiar, especially when you're already not feeling well. We've had our share of colds and flu-like sickness recently, and since again, being in an unfamiliar place makes normal things like doctor visits complicated, we were super excited when we learned about Doctor On Demand. If you've never heard of this service, you're missing out. Especially if you have kids and hate dragging everyone into offices and waiting for appointments (and being around germies).
Doctor On Demand is super cheap, too. And most insurance providers even cover it completely. (If you don't believe me, take a look. I'll even give you a coupon code for $10 off your first visit.)
Our favorite thing, by far, though, is that you can connect with a doctor in as little as three minutes. THREE MINUTES! You don't have to spend hours filling out paperwork beforehand in order to use it, either. They just ask you a few questions right before your appointment starts. That's it. Done.
I know we'll be using this a lot in the future, not just for the convenience but because we can literally have a doctor's appointment anywhere, with FaceTime-like flexibility. It's truly brilliant. And Doctor On Demand is not just for normal cold/flu/allergy-type stuff either (which, by the way, is tailored for pediatric or general audience, also), you can also have dermatology, lactation (hello, new moms! SO wish I had this!) and even psychology consultations! It's like having a doctor on-call in your pocket.
So before you go on your next trip, or even if you don't, make sure you get the Doctor On Demand app for all your family emergencies. WAY cheaper, faster, and easier than urgent care, and definitely our pick for the forseeable future!
Here is your coupon code for $10 off your first visit (which already averages at a super-cheap $40 without insurance): JORNIE10
