Between the constant debates about breastmilk versus formula, I think we’ve all missed something. It’s not about the method you’re using. It’s about making sure baby is eating enough of the right things.
Though we have always tried to feed our babies breastmilk, sometimes it just hasn’t been possible. Like the time I was hospitalized and then had to have surgery 8 days after #4 was born, with no advance notice. Literally was being wheeled into surgery when they informed me I couldn’t breastfeed for 24 hours after.
Or the time my fifth baby was born four weeks early and had the longest labor and wasn’t passing enough glucose tests to leave the hospital. And I was exhausted.
We found solutions. But it was hard. Even heartbreaking sometimes.
But the important thing is that we got baby the nutrients he needed to thrive.
Not HOW it was delivered–breast, bottle, formula–just that it WAS delivered.
All that being said, though–there is one thing I WISH we had through all those late nights and helpless emergencies.
The Gerber BabyNes
In all the technological advancements of the baby industry in general, I don’t think there’s anything I’ve been more impressed by than the Gerber BabyNes. This is the Keurig of bottle-makers. And at least three times as awesome.
Seriously, just watch the video. I can’t even.
Perfect temp, perfect bottle, perfect nutrients. Every time.
I also LOVE that Gerber has modeled the BabyNes formula pods after breastmilk. So, if you’re like me and would prefer to be breastfeeding your baby, you don’t have to feel bad about giving them a BabyNes bottle if you need to.
But beyond all the awesome bottle-making features, this thing has brains, too. The BabyNes is wifi enabled, and not only will it connect to your phone (or other device) to keep track of all your feedings, it will also let you know when you’re low on BabyNes formula pods, and even order more if you set it to! Forget late-night emergency runs, it’s delivered right to your door.
The app goes way further than just that, though. It helps you keep track of just about everything baby-related. You can even connect it to a wifi-enabled baby scale. Yes, they make those, now.
OMG, technology. You make me want all the things.
And since Gerber has thought of pretty much everything, they have different BabyNes formula pods for each part of babyhood, all the way up through 36 months. Nutrition that caters to your baby’s specific needs in each growing stage of early life.
And so easy.
