Summer days can get really, really long. Especially when you have young kiddos, and it’s too hot to play outside. So, sometimes, you have to improvise indoor summer fun.
One of our fav ways to do this is by getting out something that wouldn’t normally be deemed a “toy” and letting them have at it… Seeing what creative things they come up with. Boxes, toilet paper rolls, bags of straws, etc… Whatever random thing(s) you have on hand (that you don’t mind them doing away with).
Recently, while still preggo with the littlest, I ran out of ideas. They were done with boxes, we were out of straws and pretty much everything else, and everyone was just BORED.
So I let them at a full bag of period pads.
It is SURPRISING how many kid-friendly activities can be derived from something so… Ahem… Simple.
(And I didn’t need them at that point, anyway, since I had these instead.)
Just proves necessity is the mother of invention, right?
…right?
Ok, well, they did have an inordinate amount of fun. So I count that as a win.
If you need a last-ditch-effort indoor summer activity like we did, Poise is giving away free sample kits so you can replace those period pads with thin-shape pads for LBL.
SO much better than period pads, and another afternoon of summer fun created.
