That title sounds like it would make a good book. Sadly, it’s not a book, but what’s sealed into the dining room carpet. I’ve got one word for whoever thought it was a good idea to put off-white carpet where people eat. NOPE.
If your family is anything like ours, you make memories everywhere you go. And when I say memories, I mean messes. It’s basically unavoidable when you have toddlers and accident-prone adults (who, me? HAH!).
Walls, floors, every visible and non-visible surface—all of them are fair game. I may or may not have spent evenings scrubbing splatters from places I didn’t know my kids could even reach. Especially terrible when you’re staying in someone else’s home… Which we’ve done a lot of in the last couple years. But you learn to roll with it.
I’ve removed stains from a lot of things, but one of the most stubborn areas to treat are carpets and rugs. WOW are they stubborn. I’ve wasted entire bottles of cleaning supplies on one. freaking. rug. and the stains were still there.
When Casabella contacted me about trying the new OxiClean Splot! I was slightly apprehensive. “I know the quality of OxiClean, and usually it does a great job on clothing, but carpets? I don’t know. Those stains are nearly impossible.”
It arrived in the mail, and I was intrigued—not only is it a very manageable size (not giant like I feared), there are no cords to mess with, and no massive prep. Super easy, spray the stain and let it sit, then pump 8oz of water through it with the Splot.
Wait. 8oz of water? I’m totally anticipating the carpet resembling a small swimming pool in the treatment area.
I tried it on the coffee stain first, figuring that would most likely be easier than permanent marker. I didn’t anticipate just HOW easy, though. One treatment and it was gone—and you couldn’t even tell there had been water there. The Splot not only washes the area thoroughly, it sucks the water back up inside! #impressed
Next, the real challenge. I treated the permanent marker stain and waited the allotted 10 minutes, Splotted it, and saw major improvement. I was expecting this one to be a lot harder to get out, but it was already significantly better.
It took a couple more rounds of treatment with the OxiClean rug cleaner and the Splot, but it came completely out! I was expecting there to at least be a light haze where it had been, but it was gone.
Casabella says the OxiClean Splot effortlessly lifts and removes stains, and even odors, right down to the padding—and I have to say, they are 100% right. No plugs to connect, no batteries to charge, and always ready to use. This is one happy mama, knowing I now have a weapon against markers and coffee.
This thing is so amazing, I want to give each of you a chance to have one, too. We’re partnering with Casabella to give away one OxiClean Splot ($29.99) AND a Spin ‘N Dry Mop ($24.99)! All you have to do is comment using a valid email on this post, and tell me what stubborn stains you’d use your Splot on. On November 15th, we’ll randomly choose a winner (just in time to have on hand for all the messes Thanksgiving might bring!).
