As a busy family in a busy world, moving is just part of our daily routine. But sometimes, routine is broken up by something extraordinary—a moving milestone. A moment where everything stops as baby rolls for the first time, crawls his first few inches, or takes his first step. A moment where everything changes, all over again. And we fall in love even more with this little person, growing right before our eyes.
Moving Milestones (and how your diaper routine has to change)
These past few weeks, we’ve been priveleged to witness our fifth (FIFTH!) child’s first steps. You’d think such a thing loses its intrigue after that many rounds, but not so. The joy of discovery never leaves us void of awe.
It’s amazing how each child is unique, even in the way they approach such a thing as walking. This “moving milestone” didn’t look the same for any of our other kids, just as their approach to first steps didn’t look the same as #5’s.
However, there is one thing I do always forget about this stage. Yes, me, a mom of 5. I forget how this added mobility affects diaper fit. Especially during the diet-change internal conflict that happens when changing countries. #whoops
Though we much prefer to go with the absolute cheapest solution we can find diaper-wise (one of the biggest reasons we used to cloth diaper), you can’t cheat the system in this phase. You’ve got to find a diaper that WORKS. And works for that very mobile baby you now have. (Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way—even in the last couple weeks… I’ll spare you the gruesome details.)
I’m happy to say, we have found it. The holy grail of diapers for babies on the move. And conveniently, right down the road at our Walmart Neighborhood Market.
I admit, I have not always been a huge fan of Walmart. But walking into a Walmart Neighborhood Market is like walking into… Well, your neighborhood market. It’s surprisingly friendly and welcoming, and we found everything we needed right away. #5 was, of course, thrilled to be a part of it, too. (Don’t let the serious look fool you… He was quite intent on getting into both of those colorful packages.)
Those diapers, though.
Huggies Little Movers do exactly what you’d expect, and grip all the right places. They even have extra reinforcement in pertinent areas, to further encourage that thing to stay put, even when baby doesn’t. We fell in love immediately (and so did #5). They even have a coupon going until the end of the year! #Winning
#5 felt compelled to give them his own review, he was so excited. I’ll let you figure out your own captions. ;)
As a side note, Huggies also has these AMAZING new “One & Done” wipes—they smell great (while not being super strong like some we’ve tried), and really do get the job done! You can grab a coupon for them right now too.
I’m looking forward to trying Huggies Pull-Ups and GoodNites with our two-year-old as he starts potty training soon. If the Little Movers are this great, those must be too. (Again, yay for coupons!)
Is your little on the move, too? What’s your favorite part of this stage, or what other moving milestones have you loved? ❤️
