Any other parents out there wish they could’ve been kids in 2016? There are SO MANY innovative, educational toys today that the toymakers of our generation hadn’t even thought of yet. Though our kids still love their building blocks and coloring books, we can’t believe how much more there is out there now to power their imagination.
This last few weeks we’ve been thrilled to get to experience two brilliant new robotic toys, WowWee’s Chip and Coji (both available at our fav store, Toys”R”Us!). These little guys are amazing! What I would have given to have just one of them as a little girl… Our kids have had an absolute blast with both.
Chip is a unique, intelligent robot dog that responds to touch, voice, and many other triggers. Lovable and ever entertaining, no Chip is exactly like another, as his behavior is shaped by how you interact with him.
Coji teaches basic programming using something most kids have already interacted with—emojis! Also full of fun, Coji responds to lines of “code” (aka emojis) you give him too, just in his own little way. He has several modes of play, including minigames you can navigate him through from the free companion app.
We love that through these toys, our kids can truly explore the capabilities of robotic technology, on their level. Even the two year old loves making Coji dance and make silly faces, and all of the kids started doing “the robot” with Chip the robot dog. It’s the best.
That’s the other thing… These are toys our whole family engages with. Regardless of their target age group, we all love getting Chip to do tricks and coming up with new routes for Coji, and just exploring what they can do. You could say they brought out the child—aka imagination—in all of us.
I think my favorite thing was watching the lights in our kids’ eyes as we brought them out for the first time, and let them play with them together. It’s what every parent hopes for… Those moments when everyone is happy together, learning and imagining together, enjoying each other. Memories being made.
None of this would have been possible, however, without this little spark of magic that goes into all the best parts, for long-lasting imaginative play.
We call it Duracell.
