It’s already getting pretty hot where we live, so we’ve been looking for fun ways to cool off. One day I was particularly desperate, and since we don’t have extra cash to throw at new toys/splash pools/etc right now (more on that here), I just had to get creative.
Most of this you can do with things you’ve already got lying around!
While my kids ate lunch, I pulled out plastic bins and drawers, buckets, shovels, balls, and any other water-safe toys we had. We were also given this fun slip-n-slide recently, so that added to the intrigue (though I informed my kids not to use it for sliding while we had it on the concrete slab). You could also use any kind of water sprayer hose attachment… Most of these are pretty cheap to pick up at Walmart, or even the Dollar Store in some cases.

The main point here is to have water and toys in containers, and (if possible) water spraying over your kiddos. {Or you can totally just squirt them with the hose. Water guns would work great here, too!} My kids actually came up with the majority of the things you see them doing in the photos. They loved making it a little competition to fill up buckets, splash all the water out of the bins, etc. The possibilities are endless! :)
