I’m not very good at creating awesome opening posts. But I am good at being honest. So honestly–I am up to my ears in mommyhood right now. I only just got dinner in the oven here at 5pm, the counter in our half-torn-apart-needing-to-be-remodeled kitchen is covered with dirty dishes while I haven’t had 5 minutes yet to unload the clean ones in the dishwasher (thank God we HAVE a dishwasher–the last place didn’t!), and the only floor in the house that has been “cleaned” lately is the dining room floor, mostly because if I don’t sweep it at least once a day, we wouldn’t be able to walk in there without our feet being caked with crumbs of who knows how many discarded crackers, goldfish, toast, and whatever else was fed to our 3 kiddos that day. Oh, and there’s a 10-month-old trying to squirm out of my arms (or grab the keyboard, whichever she can manage first), and a 2-year-old and a 3-1/2-year-old telling me how much they NEED animal crackers (right before dinner, mind you). Not to mention the little one brewing in my tummy, who apparently thinks the smells of tonight’s meal may be grounds for the initiation of a new weight-loss program (aka not-so-morning sickness).
But that’s the joy of having three age 3 and under (and one on the way). :) And again, honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. My house may be a mess, but my kiddos are happy. And no, not every day is perfect–there are plenty of times we’re all mad at each other, and way too much yelling has been done that day… But it’s a journey. And as long as we’re learning along the way, and improving the way we do things little by little, life will continue to get better–together.
So that’s what this blog is about. The journey. Learning and growing together. It’s a little bit of everything, from a mom of three (soon to be four). It’s easy “homemade” recipes, and remedies for runny noses, and funny stories of our life together. It’s resources, and it’s honesty. I hope you enjoy it, and will learn and grow with us in the days to come. :)

P.S. I know you’re probably wondering about the name–“jornie” is something we came up with based on my husband’s name (JORdan) and my name (StephaNIE), and the fact that we met while traveling together, moved overseas a few days after getting married, and while we have lived in the US for a few years now, we hope to continue the traveling trend in the near future. Maybe once our “family” status has stabilized a little… Or not. ;) Life’s short.
