Drowning. That about describes the feeling. All the books and courses in the world couldn’t prepare me for this. You can’t possibly understand unless you’ve been there, but once you’ve been there… You know.
Motherhood is beautiful and wonderful and emotional and hard and the best thing ever. All rolled into one. So many feelings, so many late nights and squishy hugs and bodily fluids and giddy, toothless giggles. Eventually, we emerge from this sort of fog and are able to pinpoint these feelings. The beginning does tend to be a bit rough but usually, it does even out, and settle into some kind of new normal.
Except when you don’t. When there are extra elements you have to somehow factor into daily life on top of all this–on top of your 24/7 mommy-self, you must work a full-time job (from home or not), deal with illnesses, care for a more challenging child–whatever the extra difficulty may be.
This is when you need something more than just coffee. And no… I’m not talking about wine. I’m talking about other things that can keep you going even better than coffee.
- Protein – I can’t tell you how many mornings I’ve felt totally depleted, even after coffee, till I’ve had something with a healthy dose of protein in it. Cheese, nuts, eggs, meat–you don’t have to eat a ton, just make what you do eat count.
- Water – Staying hydrated is major. I know, you’re whining at me, “But coffee is a liquid, toooo!” No. Not the same. YOU GOTTA HAVE WATER. Just do it. It will cut down on headaches, irritability, and a slew of other things. It can even help you trim a few pounds. You should really be drinking 2/3 your weight in ounces at minimum (i.e. a 150 lb person would drink at least 100 oz), preferrably more.
- Vitamin C – Especially when you’re stuck inside all day with kiddos, you ALL need some extra Vitamin C. Not only does it support a healthy immune system, with the fun options by Nature Made for getting it in your system, it’ll encourage all of you to be a bit happier with each other, too (wink, wink). Hey, anything to pacify the natives, right?
Now that you’ve got some ideas on improving your days sans coffee, go check out Nature Made’s Daily Boost program. They have a ton of other excellent resources for furthering your health goals and helping you function at your best, all the time. Make that coffee go further by supplementing your body’s core needs.
You can also win one of 20 Walmart gift cards for FIFTY DOLLARS each by entering below. No big deal. Because vitamins.
