I am SO excited my friend Paula at Beauty Through Imperfection invited me to do something special this week–a Blog Tour! For those of you who have never heard of one of those, I’m going to tell you about the wonderful blogger who introduced me, answer some “blog tour” questions, and then introduce a couple amazing new bloggers to you!
So, what are we waiting for?
Paula is really more than just a blogger friend to me. My husband basically grew up with her, and we’ve been “sisters” as long as we’ve known each other. :) Also, she was the one who gave me the good old-fashioned shove I needed to really get into blogging!
She has a lot of really great posts, but my favorite is her series on Confessions of an Imperfect Mother. We all have those moments–and days, for that matter–and she does such a great job of being honest while focusing on the silver lining. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been having a bad day myself, her most recent post has popped into my inbox, and been just the thing I needed to hear.
Also, I recently had the pleasure of helping her with the cover for her new book, When Baby Becomes Big Sibling! {affiliate link} Another brilliantly practical read. Make sure you follow her on Facebook here!
On to the questions…
What am I working on right now?
Oh gosh, where do I even start! Lol. We are going in a million directions at the moment prepping for a big move, but I’m also working on a redesign here (which you should be seeing shortly)! There’s never a dull moment. I dream of logos and itineraries (not joking. lol).
How does my work differ from others in this genre?
I try to be as authentic as I can. Everything I post is something I’ve actually tried or created. I don’t use stock photography at all (this can end up good or bad, but I’m getting better! The background in photography & graphic design helps). Plus, I have a lot of cute little models (4, to be exact) for all the fun things I need photos of. ;)
Why do I write/create what I do?
Mainly, I do it to encourage other mommies. I KNOW your life is crazy, but it’s worth it! And there are cheaper and better ways to enjoy your life to the fullest (I’m still finding a lot of them). I don’t know all there is to know about anything, but I do know the fun is in the journey (jornie, journey… see that?). :)
How does my writing/creative process work?
- Get children occupied.
- Start to write.
- Answer 6984398 questions, fill 2+ cups of water. Continue to formulate post in head.
- Get children settled again. Write a couple more sentences.
- Wipe a bum, change a diaper. Answer 56897 more questions. Obtain an obscure toy or three and continue to work out the wording of the next part of the post in head.
- Carry iPad mini, typing, while searching for #3 to make sure she isn’t drawing on the walls or dunking baby dolls in the toilet.
- Plop children at the table for a snack, start nursing the littlest, and quickly compose any graphics I need.
- Check for errors (cause I know there are some), and delegate the cleaning of the 398756 messes the children have managed to make in the amount of time I’ve been writing.
- Kiss boo-boos and tickle tummies while adding finishing touches.
- POST! …oh, crap, I forgot to…!
So, now that you have a peek into my current life, let me introduce two WONDERFUL ladies who each have four gorgeous children as well!
Kim at Life Over C’s
Kim and her family have been living and working in the Republic of Georgia since 2006, and have traveled extensively in the US, as well. They homeschool, and she has lots of great activities for multiple ages! You can read more about her by clicking here, or follow her on Facebook here. Here are just a couple of my favorite posts of hers… {Click the image to view the post}
Now for another awesome blogger!
Whitney at Beauty in the Mess
Whitney lives in the US with her sweet kiddos and husband, but they all have the travel bug, too. In the meantime, though, she writes about motherhood, homemaking, and natural living–and has some really great encouraging posts, as well. I just love these ones… {P.S. More about her by clicking here, and make sure you follow her on Facebook here too!} {Click the image to view the post}
Alright, ladies, it’s your turn! :) I can’t wait to see who you pick!
