We are a young family of 7, including 5 kids ages 2 to 8 years, that embarked on a worldwide adventure the end of August 2015. Everything we currently own (for our entire family) fits in two carry-on backpacks, and we blog about parenting and family travel here at Jornie.com (sharing more travel-oriented updates on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram).

Quinny Yezz Stroller
After hours and hours of research, this is the lightest, most compact stroller we could find. At 11 lbs and the size of a small backpack when folded, we’ve been able to carry it on to every flight and throw it in the overhead compartment without anyone batting an eyelash. Easy to steer, and the littles love it. Only regret is that it doesn’t have a higher weight limit.
ERGObaby 360 Baby Carrier
The ERGObaby 360 makes daily life with littles so much easier, whether you’re traveling or not. The thing we love most about this carrier in particular is that it allows baby to face forward OR back. There’s also a more breathable version of this out now, right here.
Osprey Farpoint 40 Carry-on Backpack
This is our everything bag. If it doesn’t fit in this bag, it doesn’t go. We’ve successfully carried it onboard all flights thus far, it’s comfy, and it holds a ton!
Deuter Junior Backpack
These backpacks are perfect for primary school aged children. Our oldest two use them for one set of clothes and all their toys. They come in four colors.
Deuter Schmusebar Backpack
This backpack is a little bit smaller than the Deuter Junior, and includes an adorable little stuffed bear. Our three-year-old uses it for one set of clothes and all her toys. It comes in three colors (but she has pink, obvs).
Deuter Kikki Backpack
This backpack is the smallest Deuter makes, and fits our two-year-old well. He uses it for just his toys, but Daddy usually ends up carabinering it onto something at this point, especially if he’s in the stroller. It comes in three colors.
Eagle Creek Packing Cubes
We use one half cube for clean clothes and one half cube for dirty clothes for each person, and one quarter cube per adult for small things like undies and socks. We color code per person to some degree, and yes, all the clothing we have fits. It’s all about that folding (bout that folding).
Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Daypack
We use this for day trips or grocery shopping. It packs down smaller than your fist when not in use.
Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Duffle
This doesn’t get a ton of use, but is helpful for dragging extra groceries back to our flat or carrying along an extra pack of diapers when hopping countries. It also packs down smaller than your fist when not in use.
Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow
We looked at several inflatable travel pillows, and this was the best balance of comfort and compact size. You can adjust firmness easily by using the brilliant valve on the back.
Cocoon Silk TravelSheet
Since you never know what conditions you’re going to enter when traveling to a new place, we felt it was important to have a barrier of some sort between us and any bedding we might have to sleep on. Though these are hand wash only, they are super comfy and, again, pack up tiny.
