I reached my 2nd trimester with #4 three weeks ago. It seems like this one has gone even faster than the last… Could be due to all the chaotic distractions, but who knows. Haha… Time flies when you’re having fun, right?
I’m sure the few followers I have were probably wondering if I suddenly dropped off the face of the planet… Nope, but you probably wouldn’t believe the amount of crazy things that have happened since my last post either… But I’ll try to briefly summarize. ;)
We left for a 2-week vacation with our family of 5 on April 12th. The plan was to visit some family in Pennsylvania and then in Texas, then head back. The first leg of the trip went fine, and we had a blast celebrating my husband’s and son’s birthdays. Then we left for Texas.
It stormed nearly the entire trip there, and we drove through the night, so that wasn’t pleasant… Then, by the time we finally got within spitting distance of our destination (and had been on the road for 24 hours), we hit three wild boar. Literally, rolled them under our van. It was a mess and we could barely hobble it along to the next Walmart to wait for a tow… One hour from our end point. At this point it was like 1am and we were all sick of everything. Thankfully family came and picked us up and waited for our tow–I think we all finally got to sleep around 2:30am. Then we were out nearly $1K in repair costs, and the mechanics were thoroughly grossed out after trying to wash down the undercarriage of our van… They actually ran out of gas on their pressure washer and had to get more in order to finish the job. Yikes. Lol.
We had a couple chill days with family while we waited for our van to be repaired, then it was #3’s 1st birthday. I had this awesome cake planned and was in the middle of making it when we get a call that our house has been broken into… The one that we’re over a thousand miles away from. Sooo the rest of the day was spent figuring out what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. We had an awesome group of guys that agreed to stay the night that night to ensure nothing else happened, and hubby’s dad flew down to stay and fix stuff till we could get back, but one of the worst things in my mind was that my little girl’s 1st birthday was ruined. Not that she’ll even remember most likely… But you know.
Things got better for a little bit… We dealt with things when we got back home, filed a claim with insurance, filled out a police report, etc… And we finally were able to order our new kitchen! We had everything delivered (minus the fridge, which is still apparently on backorder), picked out flooring, bought tile for a backsplash… And, just when we thought everything was going back to normal, and were a week out from starting the big kitchen remodel…
Hubby comes home from work early. Extra early. Gets my sister to watch the kids, and takes me out on a “date.” Then the big news… Out of the blue, fired from the most secure job he’s ever had. Because of false rumors and accusation.
So, here we are again, picking up pieces. But strangely at peace about everything, and really feeling like God has a bigger plan. It’s an interesting place to be (especially with 3-1/2 kids lol), but there’s no guy I’d rather be in it with. I’m sure things will change a little, and it will be more chaos than normal for a bit… But we’re game. And sunshine always comes after the rain.
